Privacy Policy

1Who We Are

Scanzy ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile application developed and operated by Woodapple Software. Contact: support@woodapples.in.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Scanzy Android application (package app.erpca.scanzy) and the associated API at https://scanzy.woodapples.in.

2What We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account information: Name, email address, hashed password, company name and chapter name provided at registration.
• Card data: Text extracted from scanned cards (name, phone, email, company, address, website) and card images you choose to save in the app.
• Auth token: A JWT stored in the device's OS-level secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). Never in plain SharedPreferences or plain files.

We do NOT collect: location, contacts list, microphone, advertising IDs, browsing history, or data from any other app on your device. We do not integrate any analytics or crash-reporting SDK.

3How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to operate Scanzy:

• To authenticate you and keep your session secure.
• To store and sync your card gallery across your devices.
• To allow you to share or export cards you explicitly choose to share.
• To respond to support requests you initiate.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or training AI models. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party.

4Data Storage & Security

Your account and card data is stored on our servers using MongoDB Atlas. All data is:

• Transmitted over HTTPS/TLS — never plain HTTP.
• Passwords hashed with bcrypt (salted) before storage. We never store plain-text passwords.
• Authentication tokens stored in the device's OS secure storage.
• Card images stored on the server only when synced; local copies remain in the app's private documents directory.

While we implement industry-standard security, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password.

5Third-Party Services

• Google ML Kit (Text Recognition): Runs entirely on-device. No text or images are sent to Google's servers. Subject to Google ML Kit Terms.
• MongoDB Atlas (Woodapple's own cluster): Hosts your account and card data. Subject to MongoDB Privacy Policy.
• share_plus (system share sheet): When you tap Share, we pass a file to your OS share sheet. What happens after you choose an app is governed by that app's own privacy policy.
• gal (gallery save): Uses Android MediaStore / iOS Photos APIs — no data leaves your device via this mechanism.

We do not integrate Facebook SDK, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Adjust or any advertising SDK.

6Permissions Explained

• CAMERA: Used only to photograph business cards for OCR scanning. Never accessed in the background. The app does not record video.
• WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android ≤ 9): Required only on Android 9 and below to save an image to your gallery when you explicitly tap "Save PNG". On Android 10+ scoped storage is used — no broad permission is needed.
• INTERNET: Required to communicate with the Scanzy backend for login, registration and card sync over HTTPS.

7Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data via the Profile screen in-app.
• Delete your account and all associated data — email support@woodapples.in with the subject "Delete my account". We process requests within 30 days.
• Export your card data — contact support for a data export.
• Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the app. Local data is removed on uninstall.

These rights are provided in line with applicable data protection law including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act).

8Children's Privacy

Scanzy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, contact support@woodapples.in immediately and we will delete it promptly.

9Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes we will notify users via in-app notification or email. Continued use of Scanzy after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
